The Knesset approved unanimously a bill to commemorate Israel’s first Premier. David Ben Gurion. The bill, approved on its first reading, will be further discussed in the Knesset’s Education Committee. Three institutions. Ben Gurion’s home in Tel Aviv, the Institute for the Legacy of Ben Gurion in Kibbutz Sde Boker in the Negev, and the Desert Research Institute there will be run by public councils according to the bill. The anniversary of Ben Gurion’s death will be a national memorial day in state institutions and schools. The graves of Ben Gurion and his wife will become a state site.
