The leader of Austria’s Jewish community accused Austria of trying to hold onto some property stolen from Jews by the Nazis. Speaking hours before the Austrian Parliament was expected to approve a compensation deal for Holocaust survivors reached earlier this month in Washington, Ariel Muzicant said Austria’s attitude in wanting to keep unclaimed looted property smacked of anti-Semitism.
