The Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center refused a Swiss request to retract a report it issued in January charging that Switzerland forced Jewish refugees during World War II to work in slave labor camps. A Swiss official called the report “nothing but an anti-Swiss polemic.” Some former Jewish refugees also criticized the report.
