The petition of the Vaad Leumi, National Council of Palestine Jews, asking that Sholom Schwartzbard be permitted to enter Palestine was rejected by the Palestine Government.
The Government declared that Schwartzbard cannot be admitted to the country, since he has not “complied with the immigration regulations.”
It was learned from reliable sources that the real reason for the Palestine Government’s refusal to admit Schwartzbard was the fear that his arrival might arouse excitement. It was stated that Schwartzbard may be permitted to enter the country at a later date when his case will have been forgotten.
