The Polish government recently agreed to return $3 billion in property to the Jewish community, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. The communal properties, which includes buildings and land, will be divided equally between the Polish Jewish community, the World Jewish Restitution Organization and organizations that will be selected in negotiations between the first two groups. Deals have also recently been struck with the governments of Romania and Hungary to return stolen communal property as well.
