The Prague municipality today joined the Jews of the city in celebrating the proclamation of the state of Israel. Prague’s mayor, Dr. L.J, Vacek, cabled Tel Aviv Mayor Israel Rokach congratulating him and the people of Israel on obtaining their freedom add independence.
In Bratislava a special radio program, sponsored by the Zionists, greeted the establishment of the new state. The homes and communal buildings of the Jews of the Slovak provincial capital were bedecked with blue-white flags.
