The president of the Canadian Islamic Congress is being criticized for urging the government to replace two Jewish appointees because of their perceived pro-Israel views. The appointment of former senator Leo Kolber as chair of an advisory council on national security matters and Jonathan Schneiderman as Middle East adviser to Canada’s Foreign Ministry is “bad news” that is making Canada’s Muslims nervous, Mohamed Elmasry warned in a news release.
