The publication of the fragments of the ancient manuscript of the Book of Isaiah discovered five years ago in a cave near the Dead Sea will provide material for 50 years of study by Biblical scholars, according to Prof. H.H. Rowley.
Writing for the Manchester Guardian, Prof, Rowley said today that more than 600 articles or books dealing with the fragments, only part of which have already been published, have come into his hands during the five years since they were made known to the world. The manuscripts were found by Bedouins who sold them to the late Prof. Eliezer Sukenik, Israel’s outstanding archaeologist.
