The rabbinic leaders of Israel’s fervently Orthodox Shas Party endorsed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in next week’s election. Wednesday’s decision by the Council of Torah Sages is likely to affect the balloting of hundreds of thousands of Shas followers. Meanwhile, the fervently Orthodox Agudat Yisrael and Degel HaTorah parties have not yet announced their support for any candidate in the race for prime minister.
