The Reform movement condemned the 1,000th execution since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976. “Today’s somber milestone is a tragic reminder of one of our country’s greatest moral and social shortcomings,” the movement’s Religious Action Center said in a statement Friday, after Kenneth Lee Boyd was put to death in North Carolina.
