The Reform movement praised the Supreme Court for agreeing to review the constitutionality of death sentences for crimes committed by juveniles. The movement opposes the death penalty in general and finds its application to juveniles especially abhorrent. “The death penalty, especially when applied to our nation’s young, debases our penal system and brutalizes our society,” said Mark Pelavin, associate director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.
