The Rev, Malcolm Boyd, an Episcopalian priest, warned here that “The United Nations resolution on Zionism endangers the very existence of the Jewish people, the Jewish faith, Jewish culture and Jewishness itself,” and called on Christians “to do more than support the right of Jews to exist as a free people.”
Christians, he said, must free themselves from historical and present day stereotypes of Jews and “must make a public commitment of a deep and unequivocal involvement in the Jewish fate and place all Christian resources behind Jewish survival,”
The Episcopalian leader, who is also an author and social playwright, addressed the American Zionist Federation on the occasion of the publication of his book, “Christian–Its Meaning in the Age of Future Shock,” Rabbi David Seligson, chairman of the AZF’s Commission on Inter-Religious Affairs, which sponsored the tribute to Rev, Boyd, said he was being honored by the AZF because of his profound understanding of Israel and the Jewish people. The event was coordinated by Rabbi Shael F. Siegel, director of the AZF’s Commission on Inter-Religious Affairs.
