The Security Council Tuesday night extended the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for another two months. The vote was 13 in favor, with the Soviet Union and Poland abstaining. The resolution also authorized UNIFIL to carry out humanitarian and administrative tasks assigned to it by earlier Security Council resolutions. The new mandate will expire October 19.
