The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemned remarks by a New York sheik who questioned the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust. Fadhel al-Shalnai was criticized for saying that the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust “has been exaggerated.” The sheik’s comments “clearly reflect the influence of Iran’s President Ahmadinejad, who earlier denied the reality of the Holocaust,” said Mark Weitzman, director of the Wiesenthal Center’s Task Force Against Hate.
