The size of a third redeployment from the West Bank called for under the Oslo accords is “an Israeli responsibility to implement rather than negotiate,” said James Rubin, U.S. State Department spokesman. Unlike the stance it adopted regarding the second redeployment, the United States told the Israelis and Palestinians that it “will not adopt any position or express any view about the size or the content” of the third redeployment.
