The speaker of the Palestinian legislative council visited the Israeli Knesset on Monday. The invitation to Ahmed Karia, also known as Abu Alaa, was made by Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg, who said the visit was aimed at improving Israeli-Palestinian ties. Opposition lawmakers blasted the move, saying it elevated the status of the Palestinian council to that of a full-fledged Parliament.
