The State Department says Israel’s need to maintain security should be taken into account when Palestinian prisoners are considered for release. “We know from the Palestinian side, the issue of prisoners continues to be an important one for them, and I’m sure it’ll be a topic that we continue to discuss with both sides,” State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Tuesday. “But we need to take into account both the feelings on the Palestinian side, but also the need on the Israeli side to maintain security,” he said.
