The Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry and Union of Councils for Soviet Jews said they have learned that, contrary to information received by phone from Moscow, Leonid Slepak and his bride did not receive exit visas. The groups said the call was made from the U.S. to a reliable Moscow Jewish activist” who twice repeated that Slepak had a visa. Leonid’s brother Alexander, who is studying in California, said the information was incorrect after he phoned Leonid.
