The top World Bank official dealing with the Gaza Strip says the territory is suffering one of the worst recessions in history. Markus Kostner told reporters in Washington that Gaza was suffering 70 percent unemployment and that the number of Gazans with savings had dropped from 70 percent in 2001 to 13 percent today. Israel wants the World Bank to help ease its planned withdrawal from Gaza.
