The U.K.-based Pears Foundation has written a pamphlet to help European Jews campaign against the crisis in Darfur. “Darfur: A Jewish Response” was launched Tuesday at the Board of Deputies of British Jews’ dinner in London. The booklet offers advice and practical activities to educate, raise awareness and campaign on this issue. It was produced as part of a wider initiative to engage the Jewish community on Darfur, a region of Sudan where government-backed Arab militias have killed hundreds of thousands of civilians and displaced millions. On Sunday, U.K. Jewish communities will convene opposite Downing Street joining a “Global Day for Darfur,” in which protesters will call on the British government to move an effective peacekeeping force into the region.
