The Union for Traditional Judaism — an offshoot of the Conservative movement — is creating a one-year preparatory program for prospective rabbinical students of all denominations. The program at the New Jersey-based Institute for Traditional Judaism will target potential candidates for rabbinic study who “are intellectually capable and religiously committed,” but lack “text skills and experience,” said Rabbi Ronald Price, the institute’s dean.
