The United States declined to condemn Israel for its assassination of Hamas’ leader. Israel should “consider carefully the consequences of its actions,” the White House said after Abdel Aziz Rantissi was killed in an airstrike Saturday in Gaza, along with two bodyguards. “The United States is gravely concerned for regional peace and stability,” spokesman Scott McClellan said in a statement.
