The United States is ready to give its full support to Jordanian Crown Prince Abdullah, U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told the prince. During a meeting with King Hussein’s designated successor, Albright solicited Abdullah’s backing for overthrowing Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. During meetings earlier in the week with Egyptian and Saudi officials, Albright received strong statements of support for U.S. policy toward Iraq, according to a U.S. official who accompanied her on her Middle East trip.
