The United States ordered the departure of some dependents from the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and Consulate in Jerusalem. Children, elderly and pregnant dependents cannot be protected against the remote danger of a chemical or biological weapons attack, the U.S. State Department said in its warning. A separate worldwide travel advisory warned Americians of the possibility of retaliatory attacks and urged them to exercise greater caution while overseas.
