The United States should help Israel maintain its “qualitative edge” and ensure Palestinians are “able to live properly” if the two countries make peace, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told the U.S. House Appropriations Committee Wednesday. Backing a U.S. financial package for the peace process that has already drawn criticism from some members of Congress, Albright said, “I think it’s very important to be able to support those who take the risks for peace.”
