The United States welcomed an Arab-Latin American summit next week “We welcome the dialogue between the people of these two important regions,” State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said on Thursday. Israel and some U.S. Jewish groups are concerned that the summit, set for May 10-12 in Brasilia, Brazil, is an attempt to draw Latin American countries into a campaign to accelerate Palestinian statehood and isolate Israel in the international community.
