The University of Southern California established a Jewish studies institute that will focus on the experience of Jews in the Western United States. The founding of the Institute for the Study of Jews in American Life comes after the university, once considered unfriendly to Jews and other minorities, has made steps in recent years to recruit both Jewish faculty and students.
