In a wide-ranging interview published Sunday in the daily Ha’aretz, Ariel Sharon said he believed the U.S.-led overthrow of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had sent a “shock” through the region that created new opportunities. He said he is prepared to take advantage of the opportunity by making painful concessions, indicating that he is willing to remove some West Bank settlements as part of the process.
