Although the General Zionists, numbering 87 delegates, constitute the largest single group at the Congress, they are not united among themselves on the issues before the Congress, particularly the question of Dr. Weizmann’s leadership. The majority, including most of the American delegates of the pressent Brandeis-Mack Administration of the Zionist Organisation of America, are trying to bring about a coalition of all parties, including the Revisionists, but eliminating Dr. Weizmann and the avowed Weizmannists.
Dr. M. D. Eder, the President of the English Zionist Federation, is endeavouring on the other hand to concentrate the General Zionists round the British Empire delegation, with a view to constituting a bloc committed to continue the Weizmann policy, with Dr. Weizmann as leader if he is willing to continue to serve. In opposition to the Revisionist attitude, Dr. Eder is aiming to get all groups to agree to postpone discussion on the ultimate aim of Zionism and to concentrate on immediate practical questions.
