The World Bank called on Israel to open a crossing on the Gaza-Egypt border to commercial traffic. In a report Monday, the bank said that opening the Rafah crossing was necessary to help prevent economic collapse in Gaza. Israel frequently has closed Rafah for security reasons, citing it as a major passageway for terrorists and arms smuggling.
