The World Jewish Congress called on France to remove more than 2,000 artworks from display in the country’s leading museums. Charging that French officials have failed for 50 years to return the Nazi-looted art to their rightful owners, WJC Executive Director Elan Steinberg said “it is time to terminate their temporary custodianship over these works.”
