There Jews were named today among ten writers, composers and artists elected to a life membership in the National Institute of Arts and Letters. The institute’s membership rolls are restricted to 250.
The three are: Louis Kronenberger, editor critic and biographer; Lionel Trilling, essayist, critic and teacher; and, Peter Blume, Russian-born painter. Membership in the Institute is awarded place the works of the creative artists are judged likely to achieve a permanent place in American culture.
