I am happy that the Palestine Mandate is in the hands of Britain, Dr. Ch. Weizmann said this afternoon when he spoke in the Town Hall at a reception given in his honour by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Manchester. It is not an accident, Dr. Weizmann said, that the Mandate for Palestine is in the hands of Britain. We hope that this association which has begun under such good auspices will continue to the honour and glory of Great Britain and the honour and glory of Jewry the world over. Though things could have been better, he declared, they could, on the other hand, have been worse.

Earlier in the afternoon a luncheon was given Dr. Weizmann by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Manchester, among those present being Mr. Nathan Laski, Mr. Montague Burton, Dr. Alexander, Mr. Herbert Nathan, Mr. Kostoris, and a number of other old friends of Dr. Weizmann.
