A new outbreak of Jewish cemetery desecrations was revealed here this weekend when five boys, ranging in ages from 12 to 15, were arrested by Newark police who had been alerted by authorities at nearby Fairview, N.J. Police in the latter town had caught the boys in the act of toppling about 50 tombstones, but the vandals escaped, to be captured here.
The latest cemetery desecration was the third in this vicinity in one week. The boys said they were “out for a lark.” Two months ago, Robert Zarinsky, 21, who called himself a “lieutenant” in the “American Republican Army,” was arrested for desecrating another Jewish cemetery, at Linden, N.J.
