Thousands of Jews in the war-devastated countries of Europe and Cyprus will celebrate Yom Kippur with the aid of the Joint Distribution Committee. In Berlin two synagogues have been reopened with JDC aid, and on the island of Cyprus, where 17,000 Jewish refugees are interned, services were organized by the agency, while cash grants of substantial amounts were distributed to help Jews celebrate the Day of Atonement in Italy, Austria and Poland.
