The annual winter relief campaign for German Jewry will be launched on Sunday and it is expected that thousands of needy cases will be added to the 77,000 Jews assisted by last year’s campaign, as a result of the recent purge of the medical profession and salesmen.
Eighty per cent of the funds are expected to be raised by a monthly tax of members of the Jewish community, based on income, 13 per cent by a series of one-meal days and the remainder by special contributions. the campaign will be launched in berlin with a meeting to be addressed by Dr. Leo Baeck, president of the Reichserband, and Dr. Heinrich stahl, president of the berlin Jewish community.
