Threaten Minister Unless Anti-semites Are Freed

A threat to kill minister of justice Junian unless Zelea Codreanu, anti-Semitic agitator awaiting trial, and Georg Beza, would-be assassin of assistant minister of the interior Angelescu, are not immediately released was sent today, to M. Junian by four anti-Semitic students, Caineanu, Lucaci, Lazareanu and Strugaru. They also threatened to effect the release of Codreanu and Beza by force.

Immediately following the delivery of the ultimatum the four students were arrested and sentenced to prison. Caineanu was given two months, Lazareanu seven weeks and Lucaci and Strugaru one week each.

A number of Jews from the village of Cismigiu who refused to buy anti-Semitic literature offered for sale in their village were beaten and insulted today. Victor Cadere, head of the secret police, when informed of the incident by the Jewish community, promised an immediate investigation and strong measures against disturbers of public order.
