A bomb exploded this morning at a hitch hike station for soldiers on the southern outskirt of Jerusalem. No one was injured and there was no damage. It was the third bombing attempt in the city since the beginning of the week. An explosive charge went off Saturday on the Mount of Olives and another charge was discovered before it went off near the Jaffa Gate. There were no injuries or damage at either site.
Police detained dozens of suspects and launched an investigation into the three incidents. Police also called on the public to be on the alert for suspicious objects. Interior Minister Yosef Burg warned that terrorists could be expected to increase their sabotage activities in the period leading up to the Camp David summit conference which begins Sept. 5.
