The National Convention of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America will be held in New York city, on Saturday evening, January 28th and Sunday and Monday, January 29th and 30th.
The Convention will open officially on Saturday evening, at the Ohab Zedek Synagogue. The business sessions will be held at the Hotel Edison.
On Sunday evening the National Convention Dinner will take place at the Hotel Edison.
The conference will be addressed by Dr. Cyrus Adler, President, American Jewish Committee; Rabbi Meyer Berlin, President, World Mizrachi Organization; Bernard S. Deutsch, President, American Jewish Congress, who will speak on conditions of the world Jewry.
Dr. Bernard Revel, President, Faculty, Yeshiva College; Rabbi Israel Rosenberg, Honorary President, Agudas Harabonim; Rabbi Saul Silber, President, Hebrew Theological College of Chicago; Rabbi Moses Hyamson; Dr. Bernard Drachman, President, Jewish Sabbath Alliance of America; Honorable Albert Wald, President, Synagogue Council of America; Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung, President, Rabbinical Council of the Union; Dr. David de Sola Pool, Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue; Dr. A. L. Sacher of the Hillel Foundation; Benjamin Koenigsberg, and Harry G. Fromberg, President, National Council of Young Israel, will discuss problems affecting American Jewry.
Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein, President, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, will present an Annual Message, and C. Joshua Epstein, and Rabbi I. L. Bril, respectively Chairman and Secretary of the Administrative Committee, will report upon the activities of the Union. William Weiss, Chairman of the National Convention Committee, will deliver an address.
Particular attention will be paid to educational matters, and Dr. Joseph Datt, Chairman of the Union’s National Boad of Education and Dr. P. Churgin, Principal, Hebrew Teachers’ Institute of the Yeshiva, will report upon its activities and present a curriculum for Hebrew and religious schools.
The Women’s Branch of the Union will hold its session on Sunday afternoon, January 29th. Mrs. Herbert S. Goldstein, President, will present a report of its activities. The principal address will be delivered by Dr. Adele Bildersee, Dean, Women’s Division, Brooklyn College.
The Collegiate Branch will hold its Convention at the same time, and it will plan for work among Jewish youth in colleges. Manning H. Bleich President, will present a report.
The Habonim, the Interscholastic League of Jewish Youth, which is composed of Jewish students in High Schools, will also have its Convention on Sunday, January 29th. Dr. Mordecai Soltes, Educational Director of the Jewish Welfare Board, will speak on: “The Jewish Youth Faces the Future”, and will lead the discussion. Rabbi William Margolis, Chairman, and Rabbi Philip Goodman, Executive Director of the Habonim, will present reports.
