Problems and achievements of Yiddish culture will be discussed at the World Yiddish Culture Congress which will open its three-day session here tomorrow at the Staler Hotel. Delegates from various countries abroad, including Israel, will participate in the sessions. The largest delegation arrived from Argentina.
The 100th anniversary of the birth of Sholem Allelism, prominent Jewish writer whose works have been translated in English and in other languages, will be celebrated at the congress. Postage stamps bearing the portrait of Sholem Allelism have been issued by the governments of Israel and the Soviet Union this year in tribute to the great Jewish writer who died in New York in 1916. A report on Yiddish writers now residing in Israel will be submitted at the opening of the congress.
