Three Israeli soldiers were injured last night when their car struck an anti-vehicle mine in the northern Gaze Strip near Khan Yunis. A military spokesman reported a series of shooting incidents and mortar shellings in the Golan Heights last night and this morning and in Upper Galilee near the Lebanese border, which caused no casualties or damage. A private home in the Upper Galilee settlement of Dishon was damaged early this morning by explosives planted by saboteurs from Lebanon. The occupants of the house were unhurt. They were identified as Itzhak Cohen, his wife and four children who were asleep at 4:45 a.m. when the explosion set their kitchen on fire. The Cohen family lost a son, Joseph three years ago. He was killed when he stepped on an anti-personnel mine in the settlement’s football field.
A military spokesman said that mortar shells were fired this morning at Israeli positions on the southern slope of Mt. Hermon. The shelling came from Lebanese territory where Israeli troops observed a skirmish between Lebanese Army regulars and a guerrilla band. Three Israeli positions in the Golan Heights were attacked last night from Syrian territory. Bazookas and automatic fire were aimed last night at a mobile border police patrol between Manera and Margaliot near the Lebanese border.
