The American Jewish Conference, the World Jewish Congress and the Board of Deputies of British Jews have submitted a joint memorandum to the Peace Conference urging it to make provisions to hear non-governmental bodies who are interested in various aspects of the treaties to be drawn up here.
The request, which is similar to that reportedly made yesterday by the Jewish Agency, was contained in a letter to Paul Henri Speak, chairman of the Conference’s procedure committee, in which it was pointed out that similar arrangements were made at the Versailles Conference and at the San Francisco meeting of the United Nations.
If the procedure committee accedes to the request, Jewish organizations will be enabled to circulate documents among the delegations of the 21 nations here and also have liaison facilities, which they do not have at present. So far, Speak has not indicated whether he will bring the Jewish groups’ request before his committee.
Isaac Ben Zvi and S.Z. Shragai arrived here yesterday from Jerusalem to represent the Jewish National Council of Palestine at the current meeting of the Jewish Agency executive. Ben Zvi told the JTA that he had visited Moshe Shertok, Dr. Bernard Joseph and Itzhak Gruenbaum, imprisoned members of the executive, before leaving and had acquainted them with latest developments.
