Israel permitted three Greek Orthodox priests who live in the old city of Jerusalem, and who are Jordanian citizens, to act as judges in a Supreme Religious Court for members of the Greek Orthodox religion living in Israel.
The arrangement became known today when the court received an appeal by an Israeli Greek Orthodox citizen from a ruling. The Greek Orthodox court deals with matters of personal status and family property issues. The three Jordanians are permitted to cross into Israel for court sessions.
