Members of the Union of Orthodox Congregations in the United States were urged to send representatives to the National Conference of Orthodox Jewish Congregations which will be held on May 1st and 2nd in connection with the laying of the cornerstone of the Yeshiva College.
The National Conference will be held under the auspices of the Yeshiva College Building Fund, the Union of Orthodox Rabbis and of the Union of Orthodox Congregations.
“Let us join in making America safe for the Torah and Orthodox Jewry one strong united body,” the President of the Union of Orthodox Congregations declared in his letter to the affiliated organizations.
It was learned that the sessions of the National Conference will be presided over by a presidium consisting of representatives of the three organizations which have called the conference. The session devoted to the problem of Jewish education will be presided over by a representative of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis.
LEAVES $12,000 FOR PALESTINE
Bequests amounting to $12,000 for education and health work in Palestine are provided by the will of the late Adolph Winters, of Buffalo, according to an announcement from the headquarters of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.
A sum of $5,000 is assigned as a scholarship fund for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, a like amount is given to the Hadassah Medical Relief Association to endow a bed in the proposed University Hospital, and $2,000 is bequeathed to Hadassah to be allocated by the organization.
