Three Senators yesterday urged the American Ambassador to Moscow to intercede on behalf of Prof. Mikhail I. Zand. In a cable to Jacob Beam, Sens., Jacob K. Javits, Republican of New York; Robert P. Griffin, Republican of Michigan; and Alan Cranston, Democrat of California, urged Beam’s “urgent intercession. Time is crucial. We urge your immediate assistance.” Dr. Zand’s visa was revoked last Friday hours after it had been issued and he was told to return Tuesday. When he returned, he was told to come back tomorrow.
