The Thuringen Minister of Finance Stolze, a leader of the Right Party, handed in his resignation today on account of the ultimatum submitted to him by Arther Dinter’s Voelkische Partei.
The anti-Semitic Nationalist Party demanded that Stolze dismiss the president of the State Bank, Loeb, a Jew, threatening that unless he did so the Government would be overthrown by a vote of lack of confidence in the Diet. Stolze considered this demand so contrary to the best interests of the country that he preferred resigning from the Government to submitting to the demand of the Nationalist Party.
Financial and economic circles in Thuringen sharply condemn the action of the anti-Semites against Loeb, contending that it is owing to Loeb’s financial genius that the monetary situation in the province has been considerably stabilized.
