The life of the House investigation of Nazi and other un-American activities is almost ended but, it was learned today, at least one more hearing is desired by Representative McCormack, chairman of the probe committee, to make public the full details of an alleged Fascist plot to overthrew the United States government.
Under House rules the power to subpoena witnesses bestowed upon the committee will expire January 3, when the new Congress assembles. Preparation of its report to Congress has already begun.
Major General Smedley D. Butler recently charged in New York before a session of the inquiry that he had been asked to lead a Fascist march on Washington. The charges implicated Robert Sterling Clark, a wealthy American residing in Europe, and Gerald C. MacGuire, New York bond salesman.
