Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett today outlined Israel’s foreign policy at the conference of the top Israel diplomats who have been summoned here from more than a dozen countries to discuss world conditions as they affect the Jewish state.
The parley, which opened on Monday and will continue through Friday, is being attended by Israel ministers from all foreign countries excepting Australia. This is the first time since the establishment of Israel that all Israel diplomats abroad have been brought together for discussions and briefing on problems concerning Israel’s position among the nations.
At today’s meeting each of the Israel diplomats reported on his personal activities and experiences in the country to which he is accredited. Today’s meeting was divided into two sessions of four hours each. The second session was devoted to a general debate on various issues confronting Israel in the international field.
At yesterday’s meetings, it was loarned, the disoussions were devoted to the Arab question. After a lengthy presentation of various aspects of Israel’s position in relation to the Arab states by various Israel experts, Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett summed up the basic points of Israel’s position on peace with the Arab states and the question of the Arab minority in Israel. Dr. Walter Eytan, director-general of the Foreign Ministry, presided.
