Top settler rabbis issued a ruling forbidding Israeli security forces from removing Jewish communities from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. “No civilians, police officer or soldier is permitted to aid in the uprooting of communities,” the council of six Yesha rabbis said in a statement Wednesday after a late-night conference in Ma’aleh Adumim. But the rabbis stopped short of an overt call on security forces to refuse evacuation orders they receive as part of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to disengage from the Palestinians.
