Tourist traffic to Israel is steadily increasing and the number of visas issued in the United States in the first six months of this year was 5,437, it was announced today by Arthur Lourie, Consul General of Israel. In June the number of visas issued at the Consulate General in New York City, and at the Los Angeles Consulate totaled 1,594.
Forty-seven American graduate and undergraduate students left by plans yesterday for Israel where they will attend a six-week workshop sponsored by New York University’s School of Education. A second group of 18 students will leave tomorrow.
